[#LadyGaga] Was Lady Gaga serious in her albums?

I was thinking about her early albums; was she for real? Take the song Fashion for example, it's one of the most vapid songs I've ever heard (but quite fun and catchy), was she honestly advocating her love of the fashion industry or was she low key dissing it? A lot of her songs are quite over the top where I can't tell if she is being literal, and I can't find anything commenting about it.
